This week we will begin studying Christmas of course! We will talk about the holiday and why we celebrate. The students will make a chart and write journal stories about their Christmas celebrations. Our focus for this week will be Christmas cookies. We will read stories like Who Stole the Cookies From the Cookie Jar, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, and others. We will play math and reading games with cookies. It should be a fun week!We will also be learning about shapes and solid figures this week (cone, cylinder, prism). We will be learning the letter Ll and Hh. We will also be reviewing for nine weeks testing. Please use the flashcards in the binder to review sight words, letters and numbers as these will be tested this time. Practice naming letters and numbers quickly to prepare for standardized assessments that will be given this week. Also, practice counting to 100 as quickly as possible.
Sherman Avenue will have a float in the Christmas Parade on Saturday! I will be in the parade as well as one student from our class! Be looking for us!
Our Christmas party will be the Polar Express Pajama Party. We are asking each family to decorate a box large enough for 2 or 3 children to sit in as a train car from the Polar Express. The students will wear their pajamas (long pants and tops) and we will sit in our cars and watch the movie. It would be great if this was the first time the children see the movie this year. I will give more information about the party later.
