This Week In Kindergarten: September 14--18

We are preparing for another exciting week in kindergarten. This week we will begin our farm unit! We are looking for a farm the kindergarten classes could visit. If you know of one or have access to anything that might enhance our learning experience, please let me know. We will be reading farm stories, learning about food that comes from the farm, and farm animals. We will be doing some cooking in our classroom during this unit. We will make vegetable soup as we learn about healthy vegetables that come from the farm. We will also make tacos with an item from each of the 4 food groups that we are discussing during this unit. Each child has been asked to bring an ingredient. Please look at your child's newsletter this week to see what ingredient to send.
We will be learning the letters Pp and Cc and their sounds. Our sight words we have learned so far are a, I, my, like. We are working on numbers 0--10, sorting, and patterning in math. Please use the flashcards in the BEE binder to help your child with these skills. I am thrilled at how many children are completing their homework! Keep up the good work. Don't forget to initial the homework calendar, Parents.
Also, school pictures will be taken on Friday, September 18. Students are to wear their uniforms for these pictures. An envelope to order will come home some time later.
Our new good behavior activity will be collecting animals in the barn. Each child will have a barn and will collect an animal sticker each day his/her car is on track. At the end of the farm unit, students who have collected 12 stickers will attend the Fantastic Farm Fest! Check the behavior log and sign it each day, Parents. Thanks for your support and cooperation. I love this class!
